The Shining VR
Educational VR Project
Relive the horror of entering Room 237 of through the eyes of Danny Torrance. This experience builds upon the scene from Stephen King's The Shining, allowing players to witness the mysteries of the Outlook Hotel firsthand.
This experience was built for a VR class project to highlight the Lock and Key mechanic of virtual reality games, and was created using Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
My Contributions:
Developed an immersive VR experience based on a scene from The Shining using Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
Implemented interactive elements and environmental details to recreate the atmosphere and narrative of the scene.
Showcased "The Shining VR Experience" at RIT’s Frameless Showcase, receiving positive feedback and recognition for creativity and technical execution.
What I learned:
Before working on this project, I had some vague knowledge of working with the Unreal Engine. I also had no experience making virtual reality games prior to this one. This experience helped in cementing my knowledge of different concepts in Unreal, as I gained hands-on experience in developing immersive VR experiences using Unreal Engine and Blueprints, including implementing interactive elements and optimizing performance for VR platforms.
